"The Sound of Real Recycling" Client - Zixtel
When Zixtel approached us to create a promo film about their industry leading recycling plant in Wetherby, our first thoughts were, how can we make it short and how can we make it stand out from the crowd?
After a visit to their plant to discuss a brief with them, both of those questions were answered pretty quickly. The huge machines and sheer destructive power were impressive to see but even more impressive to hear.
They loved the idea of using sound to drive the piece and even came up with a snappy tagline. We got to work, they love it and this is the end result!

Concept, Location & Team
Filming took place over one day on-location at the Zixtel plant in Wetherby. We started by walking through the process from start to finish so we were able to establish which were the key elements to film. Our decisions were based primarily upon which gave the most dynamic impact sounds. If it had a bang, a grind, a click or a thud, we filmed it.
David Diley took on the roles of Director and DoP while all sound was captured on-loaction by David Lawrie.
Kit
The footage was filmed on the Panasonic AU-EVA1 and BMPCC 6K Pro with audio captured on-location using a Zoom F-8 Field Recorder, Zoom H handheld recorder and an audio technical AT440 shotgun microphone.

Edit, Grade & Sound Design
We were in agreement with the client that we wanted the film to be short and punchy, keeping the runtime down to a minute or less so as to add some pace to what is a relatively lengthy process.
The grade was done by David Diley in DaVinci Resolve Studio with a look that is quite low contrast without a great deal of saturation, taking on a “flatter” look than we would normally deliver. This was to allow the sound design to take centre stage and be the main area of focus.
David Lawrie handled the sound design and mix using Izotope RX Advanced and Logic Pro.
