"Into The Wild" - Spec Lifestyle Film

We love spec projects, we love the outdoors and we had a some spare time so we decided, “why not?” and created “Into The Wild.”

“Into The Wild” is a longer format lifestyle film, designed to show potential outdoor brand clients, an example of this style of online content.

Concept, Location & Team

The concept was simple, to sell the idea that to promote a product or products, you don’t have to push the products, instead, allow an audience to visualise the experience those products help to create for the end user.

The film was shot in various locations around Halifax, Sheffield, York and the Yorkshire Dales over a period of four separate days with a crew consisting David Diley (Director / DoP), David Lawrie (Sound Recordist), Ollie Putnam (B-Camera / Production Assistant) and Andy Clark (Talent).

Kit

The footage was filmed on the Panasonic AU-EVA1, BMPCC 6K Pro and a Phantom 4 Drone with audio captured on-location using a Zoom F-8 Field Recorder, Zoom H handheld recorder and an audio technical AT440 shotgun microphone.

For most of the scenes, our talent is seen holding an unloaded air rifle. For the target scene with live rounds, David handled and fired a Mauser M18 .223 rifle in a controlled environment used for shooting practice. David is an FAC certificate holder, using his own personal rifle.

Edit, Grade & Sound Design

“Into The Wild” was edited on Adobe Premeiere Pro over the course of around a week. Two versions were created, one with an American voiceover and one with a Scottish voiceover.

David undertook the colour grade in Da Vinci Resolve Studio with a focus on rich, vivid colour and a very filmic look.

David Lawrie handled the sound design using audio recorded entirely on-location.
